And I learned over the last few years that to keep Chicago's rail lines in operation that fire is used to keep the switches from freezing up in the winter time. We see a track worker in Chicago starting this process in the wee hours of the morning. This was captured today on the Railstream YouTube channel. I think this scene took place on the tracks going through Chicago's west side.
