Chicago Greyhound Terminal

A mural up in the ceiling. An interesting place to put a piece of art, right? The things you find at a Greyhound bus station.

Look at this girl in the picture

It's the month of May and she is walking around in a pair of snowboots. Hmm not that I know much about fashion but isn't that trend slowly dying. I don't know, but it was an unusal thing to see. She really was nice looking though.

Lake Michigan

I was some where on the south end on Lincoln Park near the beaches, a little closer to the Drake Hotel. The waters looked very choppy on this day. I decided to capture that.

Louisville, Kentucky

Doesn't it look busy in this terminal. It was about midnight or so with people going to such places as Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, Indianapolis, points in Florida, Detroit, and other points. I don't know why by Louisville seems like a city I'd live to visit a little more one day.

Texarkana

Texarkana is one of those unusual cities that seems to start in one state and ends in the state next door. There's a Texarkana, Texas and a Texarkana, Arkansas, but on this night I didn't know which side of the state border we were on that evening.

Atlanta, Georgia

The terminal in "hot-lanta" was in a state of reconstruction. The terminal couldn't possibly handle the traffic that I have seen here more than once. The building looks temporary, indeed it somewhat resembles a trailor. It doesn't look like Greyhound will have new digs anytime soon.

I'm starting a new photo series

What you find at a Greyhound station.

This picture was taken at the terminal in Memphis, Tennessee.

At the Prairie View rest stop on I-57

Probably the only sign Gov. Blagojevich doesn't have his name on!

I think I'll do better next time...

I was attempting to get the bicycle sculpture. Instead I got more of the trolley than the bicycle.

Back road in Georgia

At about 1AM

One of those rare times that I'll actually be out this late. I took a picture at the Mays Memorial Burial Site oustide of a dormitory Graves Hall. Spring 2007 is winding down and time for the celebration for the class of 2007.

Don't be a dumbass. READ the entire message above.

On the sheets to sign out of the dorm. I really like the picture of the donkey.

What is this dummy???

Well it's not a dummy but a representation of former Morehouse President Dr. Benjamin Mays. A representation of him and his desk. With a typewriter and even a bulleting from his alma mater Bates College. This is located in Douglass Hall, a study hall.

Douglass Hall

Named for famed anti-slavery activists Frederick Douglass. It is home to many artifacts and pictures from the 140 year history of Morehouse College. You may see a couple of flags (or pennants) with the initials ABC.

Well Morehouse was once known as the Atlanta Baptist College, then later on was named for one of its founders. Still a lot of history to take in there in the form of pictures and even academic robes. Perhaps this inspires students who go there and study.

Another picture on my walk back to campus

Another blurry shot but on the campus of Clark Atlanta University. But not as blurry as the other shot.

A nighttime shot

Darn, I really need to get a grip on not letting these pictures get blurry. And perhaps this is what I get for strolling around on campus from the library just about late at night. It's worth it since we're going into reading period and then final exam week.

CAU Marching Band

I'm not sure what this was about. Must have been an end of the year rally as we start reading period and then final exam week. If only I can show and convey the performance of this band. They were at Sen. Obama's rally just over a couple of weeks ago.

Ms. Spelman Pageant

Morehouse College had already had theirs now it's time for the ladies of Spelman College to have theirs. And how appropriate as the school year is winding down.

Stay in school kids!!!!

I try not to knock our janitorial staff but this can really be a good motivation to tell kids to stay in school or you'll make the errors this guys make in making a sign when they clean the bathrooms. The sign reads...

This bathroom is tempory close

Remember kids,"Keep your butt in school!!!"

Morehouse College Alpha Phi Alpha probate

Alpha Rho chapter initiates their newest iniatiates.

Atlanta City Hall

Or I understand correctly it's called old City Hall. I dropped by to see a presentation by the finance department. This was for class and it was a very interesting presentation to see how a municipality makes their budget decisions.

Georgia capitol dome

I suppose you can call this the real Georgia Dome where the Atlanta Falcons play. This is a different Georgia Dome where state legislators meet. On the grounds there are sculptures of mostly important figures in Georgia and this includes President Jimmy Carter.

I wanted to get a picture of Jimmy Carter but I didn't have enough storage on the phone to even either keep the picture or post it here.

Miss Maroon and White pageant

Earlier this week the seven ladies in this competition were campaign on campus. Tonight they have their show with a Q&A, talent, and an evening gown segment. Then we vote.

Here we see one of the contestants playing a piano and singing a contemporary song.

I wish I had a photo of it, but the one act that stole the show was a group of guys performing as Chinese dragons. It was hilarious because it went on and on. Everytime we thought it was over they'd start up again. The crowd hated it, but I found it the most interesting only because of the crowd's reaction.

Spelman SGA campaign

A lot of things seem off this year. Usually Spelman College holds their elections in February/March. This sign looks a lot more profession than I would have expected.

The ladies of Spelman College generally like to make handmade campaign materials of which this sign wasn't. And I see that they have other posters around that I didn't take pictures of that use familiar corporate logos like one sign feigned a Cingular look, another Pepsi, and other still Kellogs (or to be more specific Special K).

DST - Wall

I really like the displays the ladies of the Delta Sigma Theta Chapter at Spelman College (HK-and those are greek letters) have put up. This is a more interesting one with the iPod and a nice message on the wall.

At this moment we were viewing a video presentation before we get to hear our keynote speaker, Morehouse Alumni Julius Coles who is president of this non-profit Africare.

BT Harvey Stadium

The Morehouse football season doesn't start until next fall but that doesn't mean there isn't any activity at the stadium. At this time there was a track meet held there.

Back on campus

I was walking back to campus and I was near the parking deck on campus. I was in front of the campus coffee shop. A place I don't often go because I'm not a big consumer of coffee products.

Fair St.

Looking I believe east on the strip. A bus was heading back west. I wish this was a better picture, it's a little more blurry for my taste.

The bell

I watched this video produced from PBS a few years ago called Morehouse Men. It's a documentary about Morehouse College and we look into the lives of some of the students at Morehouse. One of the scenes you see will take place here at this bell. A guy says that a Morehouse graduate got his degree got his job and left. However, a Morehouse Man will answer this bell whenever it rings.

I was able to check this video out of the library many years ago. If you want to look for it now do so, it's a great video.
